Discovering the Bliss of an Electric Blanket

When we arrived in our rented home at the end of December 07, the temperature was 28 degrees and the electric blankets on the beds left us somewhat bemused. They were all carefully folded and packed away without a second thought until about 3 weeks ago when the evening temperatures fell to the chilly side of 10 degrees after 17-18 degrees in the daytime. With no central heating, and only a log fire and electric heaters for warmth, getting undressed and leaping into a cold bed was decidely uninviting .

In a moment of sheer genious Tom remembered the electric blankets! Not just any old electric blankets, but ones made of sheepskin with dual controls and a booster for added bliss. So now we toast with the tips of our noses poking out from under the duvet into the cold night air. The windows stay wide open and and we are snug in our new found nest!! The vet surgery sells electric blankets for cats too, but as you can see Megan has her own way of keeping warm.

Getting out of bed the next morning isn't so easy and involves a mad dash into a hot shower followed by a bowl of porridge. So, we are almost Kiwis and no longer soft.

We can hear some of you saying "Forget the visit to NZ!" Please be assured that when we build the house it will have lovely warm central heating and you won't be cold if you are here in winter. The great treat will be the sheepskin electric blanket waiting for you on your bed so that you too can enjoy the bliss.

Life is busy and we are very happy living and working here.

More to follow soon............................................
